The Shop Around the Corner is an upscale boutique located within the historic Red Lion Inn offering home & lifestyle goods, as well as distinct souvenirs. Founded by Janis Monachina in the Spring of 2022, the shop is focused on bringing beautiful, high quality goods to our local customers & out of town visitors.

Proprietor & Head Buyer, Janis Monachina, managed The Pink Kitty, the original gift shop here at The Red Lion Inn, over 30 years ago. It has been her dream to own her own boutique ever since. Janis ran a bed & breakfast, Crabtree Cottage, out of her home in Lee for many years, & her experience in hospitality & interior decorating have all contributed to her vision & merchandising of the store.

Julia Keenan, Janis’ daughter, is the Director of Operations at the shop, as well as the “artist in residence”, selling her homemade ceramics at the store. Julia brings her Bachelors in Fine Arts from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, as well as her experience working in a fine art gallery, to assist with buying & merchandising, & is in charge of social media.
